Southwest Texas Conference:

  A Family Affair

     The church family of Grant AME Worship Center – Austin, Texas enjoyed their 3^rd Annual Day of Bowling at the Dart Bowl on April 4, 2009.  This fellowship event is hosted jointly by the Grant Lay Organization and Sons of Allen.  The bowlers ranged in age from Kindergarten to Senior Citizens.  One of the bowlers commented that he hadn’t bowled in 30 years (since leaving military service).  Seven trophies and one medal were awarded during the church services the following Sunday.  The Lay Organization President is Douglas Thomas, the Sons of Allen President is Ranie Allen and Rev. Adam Carrington is the Pastor.

. . .  News Tidbits . . .

The Austin-Capital District (ACD) Lay, for their 3rd year, gave some 700+ Holiday Greeting cards to be distributed to offenders at a prison facility.  The recipients can then mail greetings to their family and friends.  The ACD does this in conjunction with Mr. George Banks (NW Conference) as a part of the work he does in Prison Outreach Ministry.   This has been a fruitful partnership.
